Cultured butter is one of the oldest butter in the world. Traditionally, people collected the cream they skimmed of their fresh milk over a few days. These days, instead of natural fermentation, bacteria is added to the cream. The end result may be the same. But according to many people, who have tasted both, traditionally-made cultured butter offers additional aroma and is usually more buttery.

Spreadable Butter

Spreadable butter is known to contain lower amounts of saturated fats and calories. Usually, vegetable oils are combined with butter, allowing this type to have a soft texture. This in turn, makes this butter the most ideal when it comes to spreading over bread.

Ghee or Clarified Butter

Clarified butter is a type of butter that is made from rendering butter. This is known to have a higher smoke point, due to the fact that it lacks of burnable milk solids. Thus, it can be used for frying foods. It also has a longer shelf life than other types of butter, because it contains less water, which encourages spoilage.
